Happy New Year!
Another interesting evening with the folks from the Asian Pacific Resource and Cultural Center and guests over at Chinese Pavilion in Sherwood, where diners enjoyed the Asian New Year Celebration Dinner Saturday. The annual event features a master chef's interpretation of traditional Asian dishes. Above, pictured, are slices of Korean beef and pork barbeque, seaweed, sweet and salted cashews, and Thousand Year Eggs. Nearly eighty people came out to savor nine courses -- including "Heaven and Earth," a dish of soft-boiled quail eggs and pork over fried noodles; savory fried beef and stewed sweet-tart lychee in an orange sauce; bok choy and mushrooms in oyster sauce; and of course the traditional whole fried fish (for good luck), this year being the ever lucky and delicious red snapper.
More food opportunities coming up in April with the Asian Pacific Resource and Cultural Center with the annual festival... for now, food porn on the jump.

Fascinating. And great pix as usual, Kat. Interesting, after the Golden Corral dustup, that some truly different local offerings get no interest. I was surprised, too, that the passing of Gypsy's stirred no good memories. I have many of both the previous Seyer entries. Alouette was a five-star restaurant in its day. But my recollections, in some ways, are warmer toward the more casual Le Casse Croute. It was truly a "continental" restaurant that, in those days, offered very little diversity.

I meant to say offered diversity in a CITY that offered very little. The food was great and diverse. The fresh seafood, flown in daily, was particularly good.

Yum, yum! Food porn, indeed. Thanks, Kat, for this wonderful post.
If anyone is interested in not-so-Americanized Asian cuisine, check out Chi's dim sums.

I care Bop! I CARE!
Woah that stuff looks good. Well those eggs scare me a little bit but I'd try them.
I love dim sum. I've been meaning to try Chi's but haven't gotten around to it. Oh the list of things to do.
