OW Pizza

Joels OW Pizza Eat Arkansas.jpg

You asked about OW Pizza? Joel DiPippa answers the call:

Lunch beckoned the other day and the office decided to get OW Pizza. OW Pizza is on Third Street just a stone's throw from the Capitol. They offer pizza in both “New World” style, with tomato sauce, and “Old World” style with diced fresh tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, and basil. I opted for a 13” Dr. Cathey's Brain Teaser which is “Old World” Style with mushrooms and ground beef. Yes that was just my lunch. No, I did not share. I get hungry.

I was disappointed. I really did not detect much of the basil listed as part of the “old World”style. The tomatoes used were cut was too large and their oven clearly is not hot enough to cook them through. The other ingredients, while not blow-my-socks-off awesome, were flavorful. The garlic came through nicely and gave a good feel to the pizza. The crust was a nice midway between a New York style thin crust and a standard American thick crust.

Final verdict? OW Pizza serves up a servicable pie, but if you are getting one make it a “New World” style and avoid my disappointment.

Well, lets try to link to a flickr version of the photo, then. Try the blue name & clicky.

KAT: That's okay... I worked a little mojo on it and kazaam -- it appeared!

I'm glad I read this review before going in OW because when I think "old world" , I think neopolitan style pizza and I would have been irked if that was what was served to me. From that picture, that doesn't look anything close to neopolitan.

I agree with Joel's assessment...

OW is hit or miss...

Has anyone ever tried "Paxton's Pizza" in Otter Creek? I hear they have a great pie and their salads are huge.
