Sweet Treat.

Cupcakes on Kavanaugh Eat Arkansas.jpg
Cupcakes on Kavanaugh 2 Eat Arkansas.jpg Ernestine Ulmer probably has it right.  Her words of wisdom, "Life is uncertain.  Eat dessert first" are hardly the sort of thing you should ignore.  Sure, there is a time and place... and though the time is purely up to you , you might consider Cupcakes on Kavanaugh, a cute little cupcake-and-coffee cafe across from Za Za's in the Heights.

The flavors are various -- Classic Vanilla and Classic Vanilla and Chocolate, Red Velvet, Kavanaugh Carrot, Margarita.  I have a friend who swears by the Margarita.  Myself?  This particular day I indulged in a Chocolate Covered Strawberry, a baker's choice selection of chocolate frosting and syrup over a strawberry and a strawberry-flavored cupcake.  Served up with a cup of Larry's organic coffee, a perfect February afternoon pick-me-up.

The hubster got a big kick out of the Ghirardelli Squared, a chocolate-on-chocolate affair.  We also both enjoyed the Blackrock Bottom -- dark chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting and a cream cheese filling.

The little cafe only serves up cupcakes, tea and coffee, and organic milk.  The sweet treats aren't cheap -- $2.95 for the normal selection and $3.25 for custom items -- but chances are if you darken the doorstep you're searching out something sweet no matter the price.  All items are made with hand selected ingredients such as farm fresh eggs, organic milk, locally produced produce, and Madagascar Vanilla.  A pleasant distraction.  Cupcakes on Kavanaugh is open Tuesday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.  For more information, call (501) 664-CAKE or check out the eatery's website.

I stopped in there after my annual birthday lunch. I don't remember exactly what I had, but I do remember that it was REALLY GOOD. You can get a nice cup of organic milk with your cupcake and that was great!

Those look amazing.

I stopped by last weekend for the first time. The strawberry-shortcake (pictured on a lower shelf) was soooooo good. The carrot cake was really spicy--a little too much so for my taste.

I stopped in today and picked up some cupcakes for my fathers birthday. I couldn't make up my mind regarding flavors so I just got one of each. What a treat. Worth every dime.

Sounds wonderful! Too bad my schedule does not work with their hours. I'll have to find time to stop by.

BTW, where is the review of Yas Yas? Thinking of stopping by but have not heard much about the place.

Went the other day and enjoyed it quite a bit. I'll have to write something up when I get back to my photo stash. They serve up pretty food.
