The Italian Couple says arrivederci

The Italian Couple has closed. But Zarina Fornaris, who owns the restaurant with her husband Claudio, says they’re simply transitioning into a new location. Fornaris said that the lease on the restaurant’s space at 1900 W. Third was about to end, and she and her husband didn’t want to renew. They’re eyeing several spaces downtown, she says, hoping for a late February or early March opening. A new chef from Italy, who’ll expand the menu, will join the Fornarises in the new venture. In the meantime, Zarina Fornaris is catering. You can reach her at 834-7800.

I believe the new Star Bar will be going in at the old space on 3rd St. No clue what it'll be like, but I'm keeping tabs via facebook.

Sad news. The Italian Couple is one of my favorite restaurants. I do not understand why people would go to the Olive Garden, Carinos, etc. when we have a treat like this in Little Rock.

PLEASE, reopen soon!

OKay, this palce has been dead for awhile, so I'm hoping to get it started again.

mcbsmith, do you know what the Star Bar will be like?

What's everyone having for lunch? My lunch, I think, will consist of homemade spinach & cottage cheese gratin made with homegrown eggs & herbs, homemade ricotta, and Arkansas spinach. I have a problem, though. Being Japanese, I have no clue what y'all serve with a slice of gratin. Bread or rice? Would quinoa or couscous be okay?

Oops, that was homemade cottage cheese, not ricotta. Sorry about that, as well as for the typos.

I never got a chance to go there and eat. Hope they open back up really soon.
