Breakfast!
We glowingly reviewed the House this week (short version: best burger in town, nice atmosphere), but grumbled at the end about breakfast. Not so much at the House's change of heart about serving it (they are, after all, filling another long deficient segment of local cuisine: late night), but about this being another blow to Little Rock's paltry breakfast scene.
If you're looking for something traditional and greasy and casual on a Sunday and don't want to venture out west, your options pretty much begin and end with Satellite and Ozark. Or am I forgetting some hidden gem?
Leo's is good, but small and not open on Sunday. I haven't lived in Little Rock for 30 years, so I'm not under the spell of Brownings. IHOP and Waffle House don't count.
Before the House, there was talk of a collaboration between Scott McGehee and baker/chef Sonia Schaefer that sounded like the best thing ever. But it died on the vine. McGehee said awhile back it wasn't happening because it was too high end to launch in this economy, but a personal falling out between he and Schaefer surely contributed, too. More recently, both chefs, separately, tried for the House space before losing out to the House's Blevins and Coffin.
Here's to hoping that each of them (and several more folks) can find space/funding soon and help turn this ship around. I'm desperate for some good hash browns.

Comments
I'm still mourning the loss of the Starlite Diner and their blueberry pancakes.
Have you considered a Mexican breakfast? (No, not the Fosse/Verdon dance routine.) I especially recommend the Chilaquiles at Senor Tequila and the Huevos a la Mexicana at El Dorado.

Casa Manana does a pretty good breakfast Friday-Sunday starting at 9am. Recently been recommended to try out Rumba Revolution for Sunday brunch... and Michaelangelo's in Conway.

I've also heard people saying Michaelangelo's is off the chain for brunch on Sunday. I've been for lunch and everything was great.
Best broccoli cheese soup I've ever had. I skipped more pasta and had more cheesy goodness.

Is Mimi's too far west for you?
I had brunch there lat Saturday. Four of us ate for forty bucks and it was pretty much all around fantastic.
I had the Belgian waffles and it was a huge portion, along with scrambled eggs and four strips of really, really good bacon.
The waffles were thick, but golden crisp with lots of butter and syrup in generous containers.
I sampled some of the country potatoes that came with another plate's eggs and they were damned good as well.
I think Mimi's might be the best brunch spot in town.

Delicious Temptations in West LR off of Rodney Parham and 430 has a nice breakfast on Saturday and Sundays. The whole wheat pancakes are great and eggs benedict with lump crab is awesome.
On to burgers now, I haven't tried The House' burger yet, but the best burger I've had in LR was at the Capital Bar & Grill. Yum! Great flavorful burger, cooked perfectly with homemade bread and butter pickle slices on it.
