Your Chance To Be A Food Writer.

Let me tell you what... writing about food on a public forum is certainly not all puppies and rainbows. But it is a lot of fun.
As my pal Kelli Reep says, "food is the new porn," and writing about food is rather hot right now. So how do you go about that sort of thing?
Kelley Bass is teaching a course at Pulaski Tech this fall on just that thing. Professional Food Writing will cover a lot of what you need to know about writing about food. It won't sugar-coat things but it will give you the basics on how to knock out that review and how to describe food. There's more on the jump.
The course description:
Professional Food Writing
5:00-7:50 p.m. Thursdays, August 20 through December 3
Pulaski Technical College South Campus, I-30 at County Line (former Expo Center)
Class will teach fundamentals of restaurant critiques -- including lots of experience dining at area eateries and writing reviews. Will feature local reviewers (including Kat Robinson) and chefs/restaurant owners as guest lecturers. Students will have chance to have work posted on line in a cooperative arrangement with Eat Arkansas blog.
Class instructor is Kelley Bass, who has reviewed restaurants and written dining-related feature articles for more than 25 years for publications including Arkansas Times, Soiree, AY magazine, Arkansas Business and the Arkansas Gazette.
For more information, call Kelley Bass at (501) 682-8137. I think it's a pretty neat sort of thing you're not going to find a whole lot of places, certainly not around these parts.

This class is part of the curriculum for the Associate of Applied Science degree in Culinary Arts. The Pulaski Technical College Arkansas Culinary School has garnered lots of attention by training future chefs. You don't have to be seeking a degree to take the food writing class!
