Reminder - Debate Tonight 6:00 P.M.

Don't forget, for you political junkies, the Goverornor's race second debate will be in the Fort Smith/Fayetteville/Rogers market on tonight, Oct. 4 and the last one is set for Little Rock on Oct. 17.

40/29 News, along with its media partners, The Morning News and Magic 107.9FM, are hosting The candidates will answer questions from a media panel. The media panel will consist of Craig Cannon of 40/29 News, who will also serve as moderator. Joining Cannon on the panel will be Regional Editor for The Morning News Brenda Blagg and News Director for Magic 107.9FM Jess Smith.

The debate will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. in the main auditorium of the University of Arkansas Center for Continuing Education in downtown Fayetteville.

The debate is not open to the public; however, 40/29 News will televise and KEZA will simulcast the debate on Magic 107.9FM.

Each debate will be broadcast with television media coverage by appropriate market wherever possible with the possibility of statewide coverage for each debate.

The debates will be no longer than 60 minutes.

The Insider reported last week that a recent feature on "Power Women" in the society magazine Soiree was a paid feature and that, among the payees, was the city of Little Rock, which paid $1,770 for Vice Mayor Stacy Hurst's profile and photograph. /more/


Hope for the unarmed

Pleased by the U.S. Supreme Court decision in favor of guns, the president of the Arkansas Rifle and Pistol Association told newspaper reporters that the ruling would make it harder for legislators to introduce limits on gun ownership. /more/
