Oscar predictions from Rolling Stone
Peter Travers of Rolling Stone drops a few bombshells in his early Oscar predictions. Jack Nicholson for best ACTOR? The Departed sneaking in for best picture. Leonardo DiCaprio for Blood Diamond, a film not really on my radar and the same for Will Smith for The Pursuit of Happyness. I finally saw the trailer for this film and I have to admit that it has Oscar nomination written all over it.
What's wild is that he has both Penelope Cruz and Meryl Streep getting into the Best Actress category. That means that he doesn't have faith in Annette Bening (there's rumblings that she'll go in supporting) and Judi Dench, who seems to always get a nomination these days.
Biggest buzz of the day is for Sienna Miller for her role in the Andy Warhol bio pic Factory Girl starring Guy Pearce. Harvey Weinstein is behind the film, so you can imagine the intensity if the marketing campaign if he settles on Miller as his best shot (Renee Zellweger has Miss Potter, also from The Weinstein Company).
While these predictions may be way too early, Peter Travers has a ton of street credit on this issue and knows the scene and the buzz well according to the L.A. Times.
