'The Queen'

I caught the 7:15 screening of the The Queen last night at Market Street Cinema.   Helen Mirren is fantastic as is newcomer Michael Sheen.  The film, at a modest 97 minutes, is too short.  I wanted to see more.

I caught up with some other moviegoers before the film at a party in Hillcrest.  Seems that Borat has been seen by everyone young and old.  Mixed reactions within the same demographic: some loved it, others hated it.  Babel was the other film getting a lot of mention.  The reaction to Babel was all positive.

Trailers for The Painted Veil and Venus showed before the film.  The Painted Veil looks very good (it stars Ed Norton and Naomi Watts), while Venus looks goofy.  That's not to say that it will be, but the trailer did not match what I'd imagined from all of the talk about Peter O'Toole.  Hopefully I am wrong.

Also, if you're looking for a post film dessert, check out the pumpkin creme brulee at SO on Kavanaugh.  Tasty.
