It's official



It's official, Little Rock didn't get "Little Children," "The Lives of Others," "My Country, My Country," "Days of Glory,"  "Deliver Us from Evil" and "After the Wedding," prior to the Academy Awards this Sunday at 7:00 on ABC.  That said, if you're playing catch up before the ceremony here's a list of Oscar-nominated films and where they're playing:

"The Queen" - Breckenridge
"Notes on a Scandal" - Market Street
"The Last King of Scotland" - Market Street
"Venus" - Market Street
"Volver" - Market Street
"Dreamgirls"  - Riverdale 10
"Pan's Labyrinth" - Rave
"Children of Men" - Movies 10, North Little Rock
"The Departed"  - Movies 10, North Little Rock
"Babel" - Movies 10, North Little Rock

The following nominated films are out on DVD:

"Little Miss Sunshine," "The Departed," "The Prestige," "Half Nelson," "The Devil Wears Prada," "Babel," "Cars," "Monster House," "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," "Superman Returns," "The Black Dahlia," "The Illusionist," "Marie Antionette," "United 93," "An Inconvenient Truth," "Water," "Click," "Flags of Our Fathers," and "Poseidon."

If you missed 'em, you're out of luck:

"Letters from Iwo Jima," "Happy Feet," "Curse of the Golden Flower," "Iraq in Fragments," "Jesus Camp," and "The Good Shepherd."

Schools continue drug testing

Clarksville High School will spend $7,000 this year on random drug tests of students. The school is one of more than 100 in Arkansas that adminis-ters such tests. /more/

Rocky start

Mark Leverett, a candidate for Little Rock district court, is off to a slightly rocky start on his campaign for the bench. He's apparently already run afoul of the Code of Judicial Conduct, which prohibits judges or judicial candidates from making a contribution to or endorsing a political party or candidate. /more/
