"Sicko", Michael Moore's latest documentary on the American health care system screened for critics at the Cannes Film Festival this morning. Several reviews are in and they're good. Alissa Simon of Variety writes that the film is "an entertaining and affecting dissection of the American health care industry that documents how it benefits the few at the expense of the many. Pic's tone alternates between comedy and outrage, as it compares the U.S system of care to other countries." Jeff Wells notes on his blog that "Sicko" is a film that "opens your emotional pores." Kirk Honeycutt comments in Hollywood Reporter, "This is the movie where Michael Moore gets a few Michael Moore haters off his back. "Sicko" posits an uncontroversial, if not incontrovertible, proposition: The health care system in the U.S. is sick. Even a right-wing Republican, when denied care by his HMO or stuck with an astronomical bill, is going to agree."
