Here's an interesting bit of scoop for all you local film fans. I just received the following release (it's from Gary Newton at the LR Chamber):
On Thursday, August 23rd at 10:00 am in the Chamber’s AT&T Auditorium (200 East Markham), the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce and University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service will announce their presentation of an upcoming feature premier from Academy Award®-winning Little Rock-based filmmakers. All media and those interested in film and content development in the region are encouraged to attend to hear from the writer, director, producer and stars of the film, screen clips and hear of plans surrounding the premier and release.
It turns out that after making a few calls, the film in question is "Randy and the Mob," written and directed by Ray McKinnon. The film also stars Lisa Blount who, along with McKinnon, picked up an Oscar a few years back for the feature short film "The Accountant." Blount was born in Jacksonville, Arkansas and she and McKinnon have been remodeling a house in the Hillcrest neighborhood.
"Randy and Mob" won the Audience Award and the President's Award at the Nashville Film Festival. The film will premiere Tuesday, October 2nd at a theater to-be-determined in Little Rock with a reception to follow hosted by the Clinton School of Public Service in the Great Hall of the William J. Clinton Presidential Center. "Randy and the Mob" opens in wide release October 5th.
