He's likes Tommy Lee Jones ("No Country for Old Men", "In the Valley of Elah") and Philip Seymour Hoffman's ("The Savages", "Before the Devil Knows Your Dead") chances of picking up multiple nominations; the same for Cate Blanchett ("Elizabeth: The Golden Age" and "I'm Not There").
"Atonement" seems to be leading heading into the turn for Best Picture, with stars Keira Knightly and James McAvoy certain to pick up nominations (Lumenick says the film is like "The English Patient," only better. If you've read McEwan's novel, you should be psyched to see this film). "No Country for Old Men," is the Coen Bros. best film since Fargo, which should mean a BP nom.
Viggo Mortensen ("Eastern Promises"), Mathieu Almaric ("The Diving Bell and the Butterfly"), and Frank Langella ("Starting Out in the Evening") all may be Best Actor candidates.
Jodie Foster ("The Brave One"), Laura Linney ("The Savages") and Ellen Page ("Juno") are contenders for Best Actress.
Hal Holbrook ("Into the Wild"), Emily Blunt ("The Jane Austen Book Club"), Tom Wilkinson ("Michael Clayton") and Merly Streep ("Rendition") may all be contenders in the Best Supporting category.
