Folks across the blogosphere are assessing the fallout of the National Board of Review's Top 10 list.  Why?  Because people like me are huge raging geeks who love to ponder and discuss and analyze such delicate and difficult matters like movies.  No, seriously, the NBR kicks off the awards season, and it's generally a decent (not exact by any stretch) barometer of things to come.  Sure, they forgot "The Queen" last year and "Gosford Park" in 2001.  But not everyone gets it right.

This year, the list by and large makes sense.  I'm not sure how "The Bucket List" made it, but these folks love them some Rob Reiner (they threw "The American President" on the list in 1995).  Curious omissions:  "I'm Not There," "American Gangster," "There Will Be Blood," "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead," "The Savages," "Gone Baby Gone," "Zodiac" and maybe "In the Valley of Elah."    Thumbs way up for "Lars and the Real Girl," "The Bourne Ultimatum" and "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" making the list.

Coming up:  LA Film Critics (Sunday), Boston, AFI and NY Film Critics (December 12).
