The Screen Actors Guild will announce its nominations tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m CST on TNT.
Last year, "Little Miss Sunshine" took home the top ensemble prize, but two of the five ("Bobby" and "Dreamgirls") missed out on Oscar nominations. In 2005, SAG nominations bolstered "Crash," "Capote," and Terence Howard. SAG also has an affection for the strong indy film as evidenced by past nominations for "Hustle & Flow," "The Station Agent," "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," "Billy Elliott" and especially in 1998 when "Life is Beautiful," "Little Voice" and "Waking Ned Devine" all received ensemble nominations.
Over the last five years, 18 of 25 SAG nominated ensemble films went on to receive a Best Picture Oscar nomination. In that same time time period, the eventual Oscar winner has been nominated for a SAG five times out of five. Additionally, at least 3 of the SAG nominated films have received a Best Picture nomination in each of the last five years.
