The Oscar race might clear up a bit, or not. At the New York Film Festival critics and moviegoers will get to see "Changeling" from Clint Eastwood that has everyone buzzing about Angelina Jolie's lead performance along with "Che" from Steve Soderberg that is either a subtle masterpiece or a well intentioned mess; Benicio Del Toro is sky high in the Best Actor race. "The Class" is the Best Foreign Film entry from France and should be the front runner in that race (It took the Palm d'Or at Cannes). It's primary competition may come from the Italian film "Gomorrah" about organized crime and the Israeli film "Waltz with Bashir." Both have been selected for competition by their respective countries. If you never saw "Old Joy" you should throw it in your netflix queue. Director Kelly Reichart is back with her follow-up "Wendy and Lucy" starring Michelle Williams. A New York Times cover story on the Oscar-nominated actress has critics buzzing. Finally, "The Wrestler" starring Mickey Rourke. Yes, that Mickey Rourke. A Best Actor nomination may really be in his future.
