At least Central Arkansans aren't having to fork out $1,800 a ticket for Barbra Streisand, as they are in New York. A funny look at REALLY outrageous ticket prices from the Daily News.
Also funny was news last week that some Barbra fans were threatening a class-action lawsuit because the last time she toured, it was going to be the "final" tour, and they had forked out a life savings for her then.
Can't Bill Clinton do something for Barbra fans, even if he doesn't feel their pain?

Thanks to the River Market celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Movies in the Park series is an every-week thing now, and tonight's show (the movies are every Wednesday at Riverfest Amphitheatre) is the original "Star Wars" squel, or part 2, "The Empire Strikes Back."
Show time is dark, which right now is getting close to 9 p.m. (expect 8:30-ish for the screening), and the gates open at 6 p.m., allowing plenty of the time for the family to have some fun (bring a ball or Frisbee, as well as your own food and drinks if you want). Admission is free; there are drinks and food for sale as well, including ice cream. Just don't bring any glass items (for the food or drink, that is; for your eyes, they'll let glasses slide).
Here's the rest of the summer schedule: "Grease," July 5; "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," July 12; "Napoleon Dynamite," July 19; "The Nutty Professor," July 26; "Toy Story," Aug. 2; "Fletch," Aug. 9; "Sixteen Candles," Aug. 16.
Trey Danaher of the Arkansas Times ad department saw one of the Tuesday "preview" screenings of "Superman Returns" and files this report:
It was an unbelievably awesome movie. Best movie of the summer, in my humble opinion. The music, wow! The visuals: absolutely stunning.
But the best part was the manager coming into the theater before the movie started. He told us about our special reward for staying up so late to catch the first viewing: the new digital projector at the Rave. We were the first ones to get to see it! It was crystal clear; like watching a gigantic plasma TV. The audio was much better as well.
"Superman Returns" opens everywhere today.
It was truly an unforgettable experience. You need to go see it first chance you get.

Remember "Eddie" the Jack Russell terrier from "Fraser"? His real name was Moose, and he also starred in that damn tear-jerker of a movie "My Dog Skip," based on the Willie Morris story. Anyway, poor ol' Moose has passed on, according to a People exclusive.
Don't know about you, but frankly we'll miss Moose a lot more than we'll miss Aaron Spelling.
By the way, in these L.A. death-comes-in-threes things, the inventor of the foot-long "Dodger Dog" at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles died. His name, in case you care, was Thomas Gregory Arthur and he was 84. When somebody back in 1962 in then brand-new Dodger Stadium pointed out the hotdog was only 10 inches long and not a foot-long, Arthur gave it the name "Dodger Dog." Apparently, Dodger fans love 'em
Dodgers team historian Mark Langill agreed, saying Tuesday: "Besides peanuts and Cracker Jack, its probably the most famous delicacy in baseball."
nn 18 and the Riverdale 10 in Little Rock are offering 10 p.m. "sneak previews" of the movie tonight. Regular showtimes start at 11 a.m. at the Rave on Wednesday, and Bryan Singer's "Superman Returns," starring Brandon Routh as the Man of Steel, Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane and Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor, will be shown on the Regal Breckenridge and Lakewood theaters as well.
