Rock Candy

Results are trickling in to us from the "48-Hour Film Project," which wrapped up last night with the awards announcements. The national project, which incorporated Little Rock for the first time last year, brings together film crews who are given a subject and 48 hours to come up with a film, which of course includes casting it, writing it, rendering it, and so forth.

First off, the home team as far as we're concerned, Arkansas Times took home the "Spirit of 48," the "Best Use of Character" and the "Audience Award" for Group C. Hey, we're just glad they included us this year after last year's entry arrived seven minutes past the deadline.

Also, the team Rockets Go! and their film "Lucy" were the "Million Dollar Baby" of the awards last night, winning Best Film, Best Music, Best Acting and Best Cinematography, which our director, Robert Kirkpatrick tells us "were richly deserved." We also know that the 4-Square-4-Life film crew won Best Writing for their "Tracking the Rollers, Vol. 7" script, while Best Directing went to Chris Cranford for Amagamated Pictures' film "By Five."

Our man David Koon is supposed to have the full list, but unfortunately for us David is holed up in some theater somewhere around town, enjoying the air conditioning and some new film he's reviewing, we guess. As more results come our way, we'll pass them along.
