Hog fans, feel like you're paying too much this season?

Here's an interesting column from South Carolina's top paper about the addition of the 12th game this season, and the thought that SEC fans end up cheated.

Being a season-ticket holder ourselves, we knew that all along when we saw Arkansas's 2006 schedule finalized. At $40 a game, a family of four or a ticketbuyer of four tickets to Hog games had an additional $160 to shell out (not to mention the gas to get to Fayetteville) to see the Hogs play a Division 1-AA team, Southeast Missouri State -- who Drive Time Sports' Randy Rainwater keeps referring to as Missouri State, which is a LOT better. Anyway, at least Hog fans get Southern Cal among their four non-conference games, plus a good SEC schedule in Fayetteville, and one of the chittlins', Monroe, is fodder for the Little Rock-only Hog fan watchers.

Actually, for once Rainwater is right. SEMO changed their name to Missouri State a few years ago.

EDITOR: No, Southwest Missouri State in Springfield became Missouri State. SEMO is in Cape Girardeau.

That was Southwest Missouri St. that changed their name to Missouri St. Although they're terrible in football. We opened with them last year as I recall.

EDITOR: Correct. But what is now Missouri State is just making the move to D1-A (beginning last year) and getting up to the same level of scholarships (85). D1-AA teams can only give 65, which SEMO will have. It will be the same as UA playing UCA, but Frank and the Hogs would nevah do that.

I think the line on the USC game will open with Hogs +56.

I'll take some of that right now.

Seriously, I've seen early lines of 10.5 and 11. That might be a little low. I'd stay away from that. But I'll take the Hogs and 53 even right now, and I'll also take the bet that USC won't score 70.
