Grammy-winning gospel singer home Wednesday

Smokie Norful, the Grammy Award-winning gospel singer who grew up in Pine Bluff, returns to his home state for a free concert as part of a church service Wednesday night at St. Mark Baptist Church, 5700 W. 12th St, in Little Rock. Admission to the 7 p.m. service is free, and doors will open at 6 p.m.

The old Safeway store at the corner of 12th and Cedar Streets doesn't look like much these days - a peeling blue hulk of a building, marooned between the Willie Hinton Community Resource Center and the church on the next corner. /more/
