The Mind of Matt: A weekend hitting the clubs

All we can say is, Matt Smith sure eats well, before he does the town checking out the club scene. Here's what Matt has to say about the weekend:

We went back to Sonny Williams on Friday. Great steaks and great service is the norm at Sonny’s. Harry, our waiter did an impressive job. I didn’t write about my last visit here. We had a waitress that had service industry issues. She seemed to believe she was just to pretty and special to be a waitress. If this is the case, why are you waiting tables?
I just don’t get it. Maybe she thought I needed extra food instructions because my jeans had no knees? Don’t let the long hair fool you! That brain of mine under there is packing three college diplomas! I understand the menu!

I didn’t see her tonight; maybe she is at Hooters now. She would fit right in. Perfect spot for her. She could impress the 15-year-old boys eating wings!

Harry was a champ Friday, the food was good, and we had a great time.

The Looney Bin was our next stop. Awesome time! This just goes to show, you can’t always go on the first impression. My friend Bob “Country Boy” Wood turned 30 Friday. We showed up with a dozen people for his birthday. Jeff Jones, the owner was exceptional. We had tables right at the stage. They give a little special treatment for people coming out to celebrate a birthday. The comics were funny, the tables and view were great, and our
waitress was right on! I can report all in attendance had a good time.

Visions at 1 a.m.? Well, some wild man talked Bob into going. Hmmmm? Bob didn’t make it very long. It seems he had too many birthday tequila shots at Loony Bin. He was outside at Visions fairly quickly. I know he was hurting! Jeff Allen from The Point 94.1 FM got Bob home. Thanks for being the hero, Jeff, because I wasn’t ready to leave. The staff at Visions has always been very accommodating to my friends and me when we took some one by for a birthday or bachelor party. No complaints from me, only praise for the employees there.

I will catch up on movies later this week.

The old Safeway store at the corner of 12th and Cedar Streets doesn't look like much these days - a peeling blue hulk of a building, marooned between the Willie Hinton Community Resource Center and the church on the next corner. /more/

As Judge Wendell Griffen says, courage is not a vice (though critics seem to fault him for having it) but a virtue. /more/
