To do: Big Downtown Thursday with a hot new Texas band

What a great day to just hang out at the River Market. We were in the district for a late lunch at Flying Burrito, but unfortunately for us we had to get back to the office for a few more hours.

But join us and, we hope, a few hundred others for Ben Zephyr, the band playing today's Big Downtown Thursday at the River Market Pavilions. It's a free show, and beer and food are available for purchase.

We're told Ben Zephyr is a band from Denton, Texas, that is being managed by the same guy who led Z.Z. Top for years, and the guy has Ben Zephyr primed to get a recording contract with Sony Records in the coming days. For a free show, it's certainly worth checking out. The party runs from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Like we said, it's a perfect day for it.

As Judge Wendell Griffen says, courage is not a vice (though critics seem to fault him for having it) but a virtue. /more/
