Evanescence, the band fronted by former Little Rockian Amy Lee, overtook the Killers this week on Billboard's album chart with its new release "The Open Door," opening No. 1 on the Top 200. Interestingly, the band's mega-hit, multi-platinum debut album "Fallen" never reached No. 1 on Billboard, but spent months on the chart.

Also, we haven't seen our issue yet, but we're told Rolling Stone raves about the new work.

Here's some of what Billboard says about first week sales of "The Open Door:"

The Wind-Up effort moved 447,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, the rock act's first No. 1 on the chart. The band's debut, 2003's "Fallen," spent 104 weeks on the big chart, peaking at No. 3 and selling more than 6.6 million copies in the United States. "The Open Door" also marks the 700th No. 1 album on The Billboard 200 since the magazine began publishing the weekly chart 50 years ago.

Coming in at No. 2, the Killers' sophomore release "Sam's Town" (Island) sells 315,000 copies. It's the group's best sales frame and its best charting position, as their debut "Hot Fuss" only managed a No. 7 peak.

By the way, Tony Bennett's "Duets: An American Classic" was his biggest charting album ever last week at No. 3, but it slipped to 4 with 128,000 copies sold this week, a sales decline of 36 percent.  

How about a duet featuring Tony Bennett and Amy Lee? Something like "They Can't Take That Away From Me," or similar.
