Bon jour, wish you were here

Hey, folks, I am taking a little vacation from the Times office and Little Rocking, but I thought I would check in from Aix-en-Provence, on the fifth day of a trip through France.

Actually, my wife has already written this out, and here is her description of the trip (I am barely able to figure out the keys on this computer at the cyber cafe on Rue Paul Bert in Aix, but the people are very nice:

Greetings from france!  We are in Aix-en-Provence today. A neat old city with great sidewalk cafes and shopping. We started in the beaujolais region in a tiny place called St. Amour. Beautiful country, lots of cheese, bread, wine, and more wine. Then went to cote d azur for a few days - Nice, Villefranche sur Mer, Monaco. Got lost on a lot of curvy roads!!!! very nice and sunny. Today we drove to Aix, then later today to Marseilles for the night. Leave in the morning on the fast train to Paris where we will spend the rest of the trip.
Wish I had a pic ala Matt Smith to put on here, like one of me and Robert De Niro up at his crib near Nice, but no. Anyway, the Salade Nicoise here is phenomenal, with real tuna and the best anchiovie Iève ever tasted, plus new potato, tomato,l asparagus, lettuce of course, and a little dressing. Umm. Pizza last night at Che Michel, at Eze sur mer, just down the hill from the Eze thatès built into a mountain. Monaco was incredible, too, and the Aquarium, once run by Jacques Cousteau himself, had the greatest collection of undersea life Iève ever witnesses. More Nemos here than on DVD. Aix is about 600 years old, and the tiny steerts and shops are like nothing else. More to tell you at another time.

au revoir.
