Alltel Arena clocks in at 42 in the nation in 06 concert attendance
The final tally is in and North Little Rock's Alltel Arena ranked 42nd among U.S. arena venues and 60th in the world in concert attendance in 2006, according to Pollstar. Alltel drew 173,169 people to all concerts in 2006, ranking it ahead of venues in such cities as Charlotte, N.C., San Francisco, Kansas City (Kemper Arena), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Austin and Oklahoma City.
Madison Square Garden led all arena venues with more than 1.1 million concertgoers. For a closer comparison to Alltel with the large markets, such famed venues as the Palace at Auburn Hills near Detroit and the Staples Centers in LA were in the 330,000-350,000 range. The Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville drew 197,000 to land in 50th place in the world. American Airlines Center in Dallas drew 205,000, ranking 47th in the world.
