The Mind of Matt: Houston, and seeing Joe Johnson

Our travelog writer and rock man Matt Smith is on the road again and reporting from Houston:

The flight to Houston Texas was a little choppy. The weather was bad, and the plane left Little Rock about an hour late. The airport in Little Rock was filled with people that looked and dressed the same. They were getting that connecting flight to Orlando for the game. They all sported the Hogs clothing and got on the same plane. I guess it was bad to travel all the way to Florida for a loss? I wonder if any had done the same for the Atlanta game?

Houston was nice and the weather was warm. The Galleria Mall is huge and a great place to shop, however it doesn’t compare to Scottsdale. Ariz.

Scottsdale is a shopping Mecca. The Houston Rockets were playing at the Toyota Center, and we had to take a look. There was a great crowd, but slightly less than a sell out. Tracy Mcgrady was just killing them tonight. He could not miss. Arkansas’s own Joe Johnson and all of the Atlanta Hawks could do nothing to slow the Rockets. Final score?
Rockets 94, Hawks 68. The Toyota Center is a good place for NBA games. It is a better arena than Alltel in the Rock or Fed Ex in Memphis. But it just doesn’t compare to the home of the Phoenix Suns.

At times the Rockets led by 30 points during this game, and without the help of Yao Ming! This was a crushing blow out! By the start of the fourth quarter, the fans were hitting the exits. It was obvious that Atlanta couldn’t come back and T-Mac and the Houston team would record another W.

You can get more info on the Rockets @ www.rockets.com. To follow Arkansas son Joe Johnson take a peak @ www.atlantahawks.com. You can find out more about events at the Toyota Center by visiting www.houstontoyotacenter.com

They have the sports events and concerts coming up like Bob Seger –  who will be in the Rock – and Christina Aguilera.

More to come from Houston. -- Matt Smith
