Seeger sells out Alltel on Saturday

The reports we've gotten (we're still waiting to hear from our reviewing on the scene) was that the Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band show at Alltel Arena was outstanding, with the 61-year-old Seger performing like he was 40 (or less), hitting all the high points of his career.

Must have been a fair walkup on concert day, as the arena was a sellout with 14,141 folks at the show. We only say that after hearing Alltel GM Michael Marion tell us he expected a large crowd, but it would probably fall just short of a full house.

Looks like people were looking for a good show, and Seger was the first major concert of the year. As mentioned on this blog, the Sunday night Goo Goo Dolls show at Robinson Center also drew a big crowd.

The old Safeway store at the corner of 12th and Cedar Streets doesn't look like much these days - a peeling blue hulk of a building, marooned between the Willie Hinton Community Resource Center and the church on the next corner. /more/

As Judge Wendell Griffen says, courage is not a vice (though critics seem to fault him for having it) but a virtue. /more/
