The national view on Broyles' exit

ESPN's Pat Forde, who's based in Louisville, writes of the events surrounding Frank Broyles' announced resignation as Arkansas athletic director, effective in December 2007, when he'll become a UA fund-raiser. Forde goes where none of the daily state sportswriters dared go, for whatever reason.

If Saturday's Board of Trustees meeting was such a celebration, why did the pictures in the Democrat-Gazette of Broyles, Nutt et al look like they were at a funeral? And we hope you caught Houston Nutt's comments on the Arkansas Blog yesterday, where Nutt went against the grain in talking about why Broyles was out. He really said Coach was "forced out"? Wow.

As Judge Wendell Griffen says, courage is not a vice (though critics seem to fault him for having it) but a virtue. /more/
