Bangin' in Little Rock

And so it goes in "Bangin' in Little Rock," the 1994 documentary that, aside from President Clinton, might be the most widely recognizable cultural touchstone for our state for people outside of Arkansas. It's broadly drawn, overblown and exploitative — clearly the work of non-Arkansan, non-Southern filmmakers — and it's obviously dated. The old Safeway store at the corner of 12th and Cedar Streets doesn't look like much these days - a peeling blue hulk of a building, marooned between the Willie Hinton Community Resource Center and the church on the next corner. /more/
