More Wednesday To-Dos: Little Rock Star final 20
Little Rock Star continues tonight at the Windsong Performing Arts Center, 7:30 p.m. $10. The expansive local talent search began a couple weeks back with some 260 contestants and progressively, the field has been whittled down to 20. In previous rounds, they've sung a capella and karaoke-style, but tonight esteemed pianist Dr. Rex Bell will accompany contestants as they perform standards.
Obviously, the event is modeled on "American Idol" and accordingly, a local collection of experts are judging. There's an ex-Broadway performer, a old rock 'n' roll sideman, a former Capitol Records exec and several others.
The top 20 all have earned a one-year development deal with Windsong, which will include demo tapes and promo photographs and such. The winner gets a three-year development deal and recording contract.
On June 29, there'll be a show to pick the top 5 from the remaining 11 after tonight, and on June 30 the winner will come from the top 5. Tickets, for all shows, are available here. Or by calling 753.8694.
