Beth Ditto, now more famous than Wilbur Mills

Gradually eclipsing Wilbur Mills as the most famous person ever from Kensett, Beth Ditto continues to make mildly controversial statements, which are quickly scooped up by bloggers anxious to reuse her nude NME cover shot.

This time, she sounds pretty reasonable. The Gossip lead singer has launched a campaign against the size zero.

"It’s so obvious but so deep about our culture and what (it) says about women and their worth in their world (that) to be a size zero... is your ultimate goal.

"The biggest thing in your world is to be a nothing. That is so intense… how about getting rid of zero at all and putting a number onto it instead, even if it’s a small number?"

My tea leaves say that within three years Beth Ditto will have lost a ton of weight (for 'health reasons'), fired or quit The Gossip, and will be recording solo music.

For reference (except the weight part) see...

Stefani, Gwen

Lee, Amy

She hasn't yet eclipsed Bob Douglas as most famous person from Kensett.

I'm Bob Douglas' daughter, and I know he'd be flattered by that remark.

But he'd hand the award back to Wilbur Mills.

And he'd say that Beth Ditto is "notorious."

Then he'd have to agree that at certain moments in his life, Wilbur was also notorious.

Regardless of how he'd respond to any of this, Bob Douglas would say something notoriously witty.

That's one of the things that made him famous.
