The fer

As evidenced by the imminent flood of fluff pieces in every local media outlet, today was the annual press conference announcing what's coming at this year's Arkansas State Fair. Through the haze of eating lots of foods on sticks, here's 8 nuggets I managed to glean from all the hoopla.

1. Live sharks.
2. New this year - The Canola Oil "Fry it for the Fair Contest"
3. REO Speedwagon
4. Dogs that can apparently jump really, really high
5. Australian meat pies
6. Swamp Master's gator show
7. Kiss Army
8. New rides: Iceberg Challenge, Quad Runner, Kite Flyer and Landslide

Oct. 12-21.
