Souljah Boy: so famous people should intuit his performances

So: Souljah Boy Tell Em, quite possibly the biggest name on the national rap scene, is performing at the Clear Channel Metroplex and no one knows about it. Granted, I'm not 16 and I don't have a Facebook page, but as far as I can tell, you can't find mention of the show on the internet. Not on Souljah Boy's MySpace page. Not on the go-to local hip-hop calendar. Not on Clear Channel's calendar (less meaningful since the metroplex hasn't updated its calendar in two years). I don't listen to the local urban stations round the clock, but I listened for a while this morning and didn't hear a peep.

Which is crazy since the kids go crrrazy for Souljah Boy and his half-baked anthems "Crank Dat" and, of course, "Souljah Girl." Surely, you've seen them doing that "Crank Dat Superman?" Learn how to do it.

Antwon Tanner, from "One Tree Hill" and movies like "Coach Carter," is hosting. This is the only connection I could find.

Stephen Hansen, better known as SJ, from the 4X4 Crew, is doing street team work with Souljah Boy's promotional manager. But he only got hired last Wednesday. I just talked to him, and he said that he'd been putting in 20 hour days, hitting up malls, schools and yesterday's MLK parade. Usually, as he acknowledged, these things would be done with a little more foresight. Central's basketball homecoming game is tonight, which knocks out a pretty big chunk of potential audience.

When I called a little while ago, Ugly Mike's still had tickets. $10. SJ said he figures they'll be available at the door. The night is a party/concert, he said, with a quick performance by the 4X4 Crew and possible appearances by Lil Speedie and Dre and Jontai.

It'll be interesting to see if anyone shows up. I'll report back.
