Domination?

UPDATE: Sorry to give false hope to Hourglass and its fans, but despite the obvious passion of the band, we've decided to go in a different direction. We look forward to being proven wrong as Hourglass dominates local and national stages in the months to come. —LM
As previously announced, the 16 semi-finalists for Musician's Showcase have been selected. Did our selection committee err? So far the only complaints I've heard have come, through the grapevine, from a band that didn't even enter (but thought they had) and from Hourglass, a young, self-described psychedelic rock trio. Here's what Hourglass just posted as a comment on Rock Candy:
One of the Hourglass dudes just reiterated that sentiment to me over the phone. Lots about dominating and how Hourglass routinely has crowds chanting its name. He asked that we consider them if someone drops out.
As it turns out, we might actually have a spot. I'm going to leave it to Rock Candy readers. An old school pump-it-or-dump-it for Hourglass. Do the dudes deserve a shot at rock glory?

Hourglass is all about orginality, there is no reason why we should have not competed, if your jugding the bands on song quality, orginality, musicanship, and crowd response, Hourglass is dominate, we have played shows across little rock and the response has been overwhelming, after our shows, everyone leaves, of course there are still bands to be heard the same night, we see that you are going with the bands that are in the emo category/genre, we know most of the bands, and we could completey dominate them if you were looking for an actual battle, the battle of the bands is not really a battle at all, a great number of our fans were really looking foward to seeing us compete, crowd response is our niche, orginality is what Hourglass is ALL about, sound quality is at its highest at any show, and still growing, we have been playing for years, its a natural talent for all three of us, if you are looking for a band that will acuatlly catch some attention, throw us in as the sevententh band, Hourglass is going to the top with or WITHOUT Arkansas times/battle of the bands.

Wow. After all of that talk about domination, I want to see them battle it out in person. You've got to admire the confidence they've got.

It is often easy to get caught up in your own hype, especially when no one else is willing to spew it for you.
If they play and lose, it will only bring self-doubt. I say bar them from the proceedings, so that they might ponder what would have come from their total domination and tell their children of how the Arkansas Times was the sole entity that kept them from being captapulted into super stardom!

HOURGLASS IS DOMINATE! PUMP IT! PUMP IT NOW!
(Of course, if you think they're pissed now - just wait until they lose in the first round. It's gonna get real nasty. Make sure they don't know what you look like.)

If you fear greatness, then you should definitely be afraid of Hour Glass. All they are is greatness. They play with more passion in their music than any other band I've seen live. And I do go to a lot of concerts and shows. If they don't get voted into Battle of the Bands, a great many people will miss out on one powerful show. Pump it!

Hello all fans and non-fans, we might have sounded a little big headed... but we have been working with this our whole lives and we wanted this major opportunity to prove ourselfs in a global society, i apologize for any inconvenience and really appreciate the arkansas times giving us this chance, we are very passoniate of our music, not conceited as it may have seemed, we hope to see all of arkansas' finest bands battle it out with us, thank all of you who posted ANY SORT of comment, and we thank the music editor for giving us this pump-it or dump-it chance, Hourglass

PUMP IT LOUD! Let this band be heard.
Hourglass is a very talented ensemble of musicians.
These members pour their heart and soul out when they play. Just like ANY big named band, Hourglass is not far behind.
When you hear HOURGLASS fans chanting and cheering... you know.. that they are the next big thing to come out of ARKANSAS!!!
Let them be HEARD!

About the only reason I could see why you wouldn't give these guys a chance is because you know it wouldn't even be a competition. Lookin' forward to seeing Hourglass dominate and go on and do big things. So, I guess the only thing left to say is PUMP IT!!!

So, If everyone who wasn't picked throws a temper tantrum can they play too? You went WAY beyond "big headed" when you said you just happened to be blessed with "natural talent". Have some dignity and be men for gods sake. You sound like every other alternative emo band around nowadays. If you are so great you wouldn't need to beg peoplelike this. Take yourselves off the show and go straight to MTV. -dump them!!

To all hourglass fans,
we regret to inform you that we did not make it on to the battle of the bands list, they chose to go with fag ass emo/punk bands, we would love for you to protest your opinions at Arkansas times.com, blog, rock candy,
the bands chosen are far under Hourglass, the domination would be a breeze, vocalize your opinion,
-To all the bands playing , you know who they are and where they'll be and when.

****head, AKA cathead, why are you hating on hourglass, you sound like the only one wining here, you dont need to be so disrespectful, it wouldn't be battle of the bands, if some band wasn't as passoinate as they are, in those terms, your ridicoulus, you must be emo, their far from the emotional/punk seen, wonderful opinion though, find something better to do then dis on bands, like ride a bike or something, we would love to see you at an hourglass show, by the way, there was no temper tantrum here, only confidence, hope to see you soon, your ridicoulus!!!

Hourglass, Good Doctor, T-Bone, seth, Stef, pinkstar and steven, why do you keep calling it the "Battle of the Bands?" Its the Musician's Showcase. The title is listed on the entry that you didn't submit.
Steven, no need for name calling, because someone disagrees with you. Also, the "whining" is from a band that was so passionate about their music that they totally spaced on the day, man!
There were bands that followed the submission requirements and did not get picked. They should get first dibs over anyone that didn't follow the process.
Pertaining to, "...this major opportunity to prove ourselfs in a global society." What the hell are you guys smoking? You can enter next year. Let it go. It isn't American Idol.
One last thing, is "Emo" just the most insulting title you can give other music? One or two of these bands might be emo, maybe, but not all of them.

OK. Just re-read the original post. I misunderstood. It looks like Hourglass did enter, but weren't selected. Sorry guys.
In any case, it just isn't the devastation that you are making it out to be.
