Ark. Times Musicians Showcase Round 1: Riverboat Crime

Riverboat Crime

Formed: March 2007

From: North Little Rock

Members:
Josh Stoffer (vocals, guitar, piano, woolitzer), Adam Tompkins (drums, percussion), Wes Coker (bass).

Album: "Walking Shoes," the band's debut album was recorded at Blue Chair Studio with Jordan Trotter of Grand Serenade and Darian Stribling of Blue Chair Studio. It'll be out in Feb. or March.

Sounds like: The band says indie rock, garage blues and "a hint of alt-country," but a lot of songs lean more towards big, bright unironic pop-rock.

False start: The idea of Riverboat Crime started with a jam session between friends in 2005, but according to a press release, "time-restraints, alcohol, and substance abuse brought the project to a stand-still after only a month of rehearsals." The band came together in July 2007 after Stoffer booked a gig to help raise money after an automobile accident.

Where you'll find them: So far the band has kept to the north side of the river, playing Cornerstone and Reno's.

Music:
