Showcase semi-finalists

The time is drawing nigh, friends. The Arkansas Times Musicians Showcase is just two weeks away. The first round kicks off on Thursday, Jan. 31, at Sticky Fingerz. Over the course of four consecutive Thursdays, 16 semi-finalists will battle for a spot in the Showcase finals on Friday, March 7, to be held at Revolution. Four acts will compete each Thursday; the line-up will be announced shortly. But here, we’re pleased to announce the semifinalists:

4X4 Crew
607
Ace Spade and the Whores of Babylon
Benjamin Del Shreve
Brian Frazier
Brian Martin
Damn Bullets
Epiphany and One Night Stand
Kyoto Boom
Notion
The Reds
Red Zephyrs
Riverboat Crime
Rockst*r
The Running Back
Sean Rock & the Toltecs

Each week judges will grade the semi-finalists on song quality, originality, musicianship, showmanship and crowd response, with a higher percentage of the score focused on song quality and originality.
Four judges will score the showcase through the length of the contest. Indy Grotto is a co-founder and co-lead singer of the Boondogs, who’re no stranger to winning battle of the bands. The pop group won the inaugural garageband.com contest, which led them to work with music luminaries Jerry Harrison and Jim Dickinson. Razormack.com is a local hip-hop impresario. He manages his titular website, raps and promotes tirelessly. Davis Clement edits Localist magazine (www.localistmagazine.com), a web magazine devoted to local music and culture. Ben Jones books bands professionally for Porter-Jones entertainment, one of the oldest booking firms in the city. Each week, a celebrity judge will join the foursome. Check Rock Candy for updates on scheduling, celebrity judges and more.

Hourglass is all about orginality, there is no reason why we should have not competed, if your jugding the bands on song quality, orginality, musicanship, and crowd response, Hourglass is dominate, we have played shows across little rock and the response has been overwhelming, after our shows, everyone leaves, of course there are still bands to be heard the same night, we see that you are going with the bands that are in the emo category/genre, we know most of the bands, and we could completey dominate them if you were looking for an actual battle, the battle of the bands is not really a battle at all, a great number of our fans were really looking foward to seeing us compete, crowd response is our niche, orginality is what Hourglass is ALL about, sound quality is at its highest at any show, and still growing, we have been playing for years, its a natural talent for all three of us, if you are looking for a band that will acuatlly catch some attention, throw us in as the sevententh band, Hourglass is going to the top with or WITHOUT Arkansas times/battle of the bands.
