"Shotgun Stories" up for an Independent Spirit Award on Saturday

UPDATE: He didn't win, but looked dapper and pensive — like a filmmaker — during his three-second moment on TV.

Jeff Nichols' film “Shotgun Stories,” on which we've written volumes, is up for an Independent Spirit Award on Saturday. The drama, shot in Lonoke and Pulaski counties, is competing against four other films for the John Cassavetes Award, a prize for directors, producers and writers of feature films made for under $500,000. IFC starts its live broadcast on 4 p.m. AMC replays the broadcast at 9 p.m. Dwight from "The Office" is hosting.
