Wednesday: Miss Arkansas, Chase Pagan and 'Casino Royale'

Current Miss Arkansas, Katie Bailey
There will be preening and big hair and sparkly teeth and pageant waves and "The Music of the South." The countdown is over. It's time again for the annual Miss Arkansas pageant, which begins tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Summit Arena in Hot Springs. KATV's Jason Harper emcees. Fifteen dollar tickets are available via ticketmaster or 1-800-264-MISS.
Chanley Shae Painter, from the White River region, is my early favorite. Her cause is "smart choices," which, you know, can always use more exposure. And her musical number is "Fiddle Lightning," which sounds promising. Also, she doesn't look dead behind the eyes.
At White Water, Arkansas indie-rock dude Chase Pagan sings plaintively, 9 p.m., $5.
Movies in the Park, which starts at sundown, shows the James Bond update "Casino Royale." Eva Green ooh la la.

Comments
I don't know. I'm kinda leaning towards Keyera James who seems to be backing "Smoking." Plus, "Cadillac Car" is my third favorite jazz dance right behind "Hamburger Food" and "iPhone Phone."

I think Melissa Marie Simmons twirling her baton to "Footloose" for the sake of the handicaps deserves an honorable mention.
