Today, on the 51st anniversary of the integration of Central High, here's the original version of a Charles Mingus classic. Columbia, who released the song on "Mingus Ah Um" in 1959, wouldn't let the jazz bassist include the spoken word bit, so a year later, Mingus released his own version on Candid Records. Boo!
