Harvest Music Festival: The Warm-up

There's no better way to warm up for a summer music festival than by chugging ice cold beer. Thanks to the stand-by rule "no glass containers", Thursday has been a day of much chugging. Why? Doesn't anyone read the rules? After polling Mulberry Mountain Harvest Music Festival veterans, it seems the beer police have unexpectedly stepped it up this year. They're actually searching vehicles and confiscating glass bottles.
Upon investigation, we met a friendly Colorado fellow inches outside of the festival gates. He traveled to our humble state just to attend this festival. And instead of wasting his beer by dumping it on the ground, he offered it to by-standers.
Whilst partaking in the saving of the beer (a glass-bottled New Belgium brew), a question arose: Does this year's big sponsor, New Belgium, have something to do with the strictness? Many campsite grumblers are wondering. It appears the company has been busy introducing its new canned beer to festivals around the country this summer.
Once inside the festival, things lightened up when we ran into Todd the Juggler. He put on a quick show and invited us into his shiny, red diesel to hang out.

We enjoyed his talent but declined his kind offer and moseyed on around the grounds. The only Thursday stage, the Harvest Tent, was drawing a crowd as Green Mountain Grass took the stage.

Otherwise, campsites were going up quickly, tarped and rainflied with the threat of rain. People were milling around feeling out the grounds. Port-a-potties were still aplenty, and there was still ample space for tent pitching.
Though things are moving a little slow, it’s starting to look like a festival around here. We're taking the rest of the night off to settle in, enjoy Hackensaw Boys and hope the rain holds off.

Have I been in a coma or has this been poorly promoted in central AR?

Nemo, your dreads weren't heady enough to get handed a flier. I lost out, too.
All my friends went and it looks like they're gonna have to float out Sunday.
ps I'm so excited to see Jonelle posting here! Go CAMNists!
