Thursday: 'I Shot Andy Warhol,' 'Saints and Sinners' kicks off, Boombox and more

Just before the last weekend of the Warhol exhibit at the Arts Center, the Warhol Film Festival, co-presented by the Times, wraps up at Market Street, with “I Shot Andy Warhol,” Mary Harron's indie bio-pic of Valerie Solanas (Lili Taylor), the radical feminist who tried to murder Warhol in 1968, 7 p.m., $7.50.

At the Governor's Mansion, Friends of the Rep hosts "Startin' Early," a kick-off party for the theater's annual "Saints and Sinners" ball, 6-8 p.m., $40. After 8 p.m., your tickets get you drink tickets at Lulav.

From Muscle Shoals, Boombox blends slinky guitar lines with break beats and other knob twiddling, 10 p.m., Sticky Fingerz.

Satellite Cafe, now open for drinks and appetizers at night, is hosting local singer/songwriter Kevin Kerby performs, 9 p.m., free. 

At On the Rocks, local alt-rockers Underclaire share the bill with Danger Ready, 10 p.m., $5.

A new weekly tradition: Third Degree hosts live band karaoke at Juanita's, 9 p.m., $5.

Ditto: Saxophonist Gerald Johnson presents an evening of jazz at Off Center, 8 p.m.

An old weekly tradition: The Ted Ludwig Jazz Trio warms up at the Capital Hotel Bar, 5 p.m., free, before moving on to the Afterthought, 8:30 p.m., $5.

Local singer/songwriter Steele Jessup celebrates the release of his new album with a concert at Juanita's, with Ryan Couron and Hwy 5, 9 p.m., $6.

Not many were shocked when Curtis Lavelle Vance was found guilty last week of capital murder, rape, residential burglary and theft of property in the October 2008 beating death of KATV anchor Anne Pressly. /more/
