Trailer Gazing: 'That Evening Sun'

I'd forgotten about this Ray McKinnon film until Philip Martin plugged it this morning in the Dem-Gaz.

It's an adaptation of a great William Gay short story, "I Hate to See That Evening Sun Go Down." Andy Griffith was originally attached to star, but Hal Holbrook ended up playing the lead, an aging farmer who leaves a nursing home to return home to find that his son (Walton Goggins) has sold his homestead to a local ne'er do well (McKinnon). Patterson Hood of the Drive-By Druckers wrote songs for the film.

Last week, it won Best Ensemble Cast and the audience award for Narrative Feature at SXSW.

Martin seems to think it's on its way the the Little Rock Film Festival. Looks like it'd be a good fit.
