Sly Stone to Hot Springs ... maybe

You'll know him by his belt.

The Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, which kicks off on Friday, has confirmed its first blockbuster guest, though you'll be forgiven if you're a bit skeptical. Funk-soul pioneer Sly Stone of Sly and the Family Stone, who's only made a handful of public appearances in the last 20 years (and often left those abruptly), has told festival organizers that he'll attend the world premiere of "Coming Back for More," a documentary about his mysterious later years, though according to program director Dan Anderson, he's refused a plane ticket and a hotel room (he apparently stays up for days on end, Anderson said).

So we'll see.

The film premiers at 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16. Tickets are $20 for a day pass, $50 for a three day pass or $150 for a full festival pass. High schoolers go for free and college students get in for a $1 a day.
