FRIDAY 10/30

Local jazz standout Rodney Block blows his trumpet at the Afterthought, 9 p.m., $7.

"Rocky Horror" continues at Market Street, 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30 p.m., $10.

Improv Little Rock's Halloween Headlock wraps up at the Public Theater, 10 p.m., $8.

And ride rides, trick or treat and check out the animals at Boo at the Zoo, 6 p.m., $5. Continues tomorrow and Sunday, too.

SATURDAY 10/31

After splitting with lead singer Matt Joyce, the Gettys unveil a new front man at Sticky Fingerz, where there'll also be a costume contest for $500 in cash and prizes, 9:30 p.m., $6 (for Sticky Fingerz only) or $10 (for access to Revolution, too).

At Revolution, local crooner Cody Belew and his band the Mercers share the bill with the Lucious Spiller Band, which is doing only Prince covers starting at 11 p.m., $6 or $10 (same deal as above).

At Cajun's, Chucky P DJs the bar's annual costume contest, with $500 going to first place and cash prizes for runners up, too, 8 p.m., $10.

Playmate Erin Leigh and bands McCuin and Eden Crow provide the entertainment at Juanita's Vampire's Ball, where, no surprise, there's a costume contest, 9 p.m., $13 adv., $17 d.o.s.

The Afterthought wants folks to dress up, too; the B-Flats (AKA, the Doctor Band) provide the entertainment, 9 p.m., $7.

In Conway at the Bear's Den, a host of UCA professors join to play music and raise money for the literary journal Exquisite Corpse (which is published by the UCA writing department). The ad hoc groups play under names like the Amsterdamned, Stroke Newington and the Conway Twitties, 8 p.m., $5.

Late night at Discovery, folks seem to turn up the raunch with their costumes. Bill Halliquist mans the disco, while Balance works the lobby, midnight, $10.
