Folks are "Fed Up" with School Uniforms

A boycott of businesses within the Watson Chapel School District is being considered by FED UP (Fighting Education Depriving Uniform Policies), a group opposing the district’s student dress code and its enforcement measures.

Meanwhile, the American Civil Liberties Union is reportedly in conference with Little Rock civil rights attorney John Walker on the possibility of initiating legal action on behalf of FED UP against the district and its board, which established the district’s uniform policy.

Comments

" . . . the purpose of the potential boycott is not to harm the nearby businesses, but to possibly lessen the district's property tax revenue intake."

'Splain to me please how this proposed boycott "lessen[s] the district's property tax revenue intake." While it would lessen sales tax revenue if successful, sales tax revenue goes to the state, the county, the city and the white elephant Pine Bluff Convention Center.
I understand Ms. Crow is a paralegal. While that may be so, she seems woefully uninformed.
Property tax revenue is based on the value of PROPERTY, not on sales taxes.
I'd say put that kid in a proper uniform and send him to school with instructions to pay attention. Maybe he will be better educated than his mother.

Do I like uniforms? Not particularly. If you can keep the little juveniles from showing the crack of their butt, their belly button and hectares of surrounding flesh, jettison the uniform. Otherwise, establish a policy as Watson Chapel has done and enforce it.
