Lendall makes his Pitch in Pine Bluff:
"If I win, I would be more than satisfied and I’ll start doing some organic gardening at the (Governor’s) Mansion," he said during a Tuesday visit to The Commercial. "But If I lose but still get three percent of the votes, I’ll be satisfied because that would guarantee us (the Green Party) a position on the ballot for every partisan office in the state for the next two elections.
"But I’m running to win, and I believe I can."
Jim Lendall mentioned in a forum that I attended that there is case law out of Alaska that may allow the Greens to keep a position on the ballot even if Lendall doesn't get the necessary 3%. If another Green Party candidate for a state constitutional office wins 3%, they have a pretty good case for being given an automatic position in the next general Election. A pretty good chance beats little to no chance at all. A pretty good chance beats being a spoiler. So if I were the Greens, that's just what I’d do. I’d put together an aggressive campaign for some other down-the-ballot race. That way the voters that want to vote third-party can do so without having to feel like they’re giving up a chance to keep a Republican out of the Governor's Mansion. You get your practicality vote out of the way first, and then you vote for the feel-good Green party all you want. ...and a good time will be had by all.
