State-Wide Candidates Show no Love for the Joy Rural Fire Department

The following is a letter to the editor from Searcy's Daily Citizen:

On Sept. 23, 2006 the Joy Fire Department held their Annual Fundraiser. There were invitations sent to the candidates for the upcoming election that involved races in our district. This included both state and local races. I was very disappointed in the turnout of our state candidates.I understand their busy schedule, but I feel that they or one of their representatives could have appeared to support our fire department and community.I am sure that there are several people other than myself who are still undecided on some of the races because I know nothing about the candidate seeking office. I guess they are more interested in getting the votes and support of the voters who can afford to attend one of their $100 - $500 a plate fundraiser for themselves, than helping some Volunteer Fire Department in Rural Arkansas.
