High School Newspaper now Online

Nettleton high school (Jonesboro) will no longer offer the school's newspaper--the Chieftian--in a paper format.  The paper will now only be offered online.  It seems that this has trippled their readership, cut their cost, and expanded their coverage.  I never served on the school newspaper in high school or college.  I have to wonder though, are there any skills that are being lost by only producing an online product?  Just wondering.
