Why is it that the only part of the Bill of Rights that John Boozman seems enthusiastic about on his website is the Second Amendment?

“Sportsmen, hunters, gun enthusiasts and citizens concerned for their personal safety have a right to own guns for these legitimate purposes, and I am committed to fighting for these rights for the constituents of the 3rd District of Arkansas.”

I dunno. I’m no expert, but offhand, I’d say that just about everybody who owns a gun is a “gun enthusiast” - ranging all the way from duck hunters to gang members. A guess every gun owner owns a piece of John Boozman.

For a guy who calls for “Bipartisanship,” he sure comes across like a jerk when he writes about those he disagrees with. Other than that, though, his website features the usual round of cliches one might expect from a GOP team player.

Deadline Week - as usual, I’m late getting my articles written. The truly ironic thing is that a few years ago I gave a couple of workshops at the Roc*Kon Science Fiction convention in Little Rock,  dealing with  writing and self-discipline.

I miss Roc*Kon; they were a fun group of people. Plus, one year I got to sit next to one of my favorite writers (Stephen R. Donaldson) at a workshop. I’m not sure he was as excited to be sitting next to me, as I was to him.

In 2004, I was diagnosed with Diabetes. In a pretty spectacular fashion, too, as my blood sugar went up to 1380. I spent six lovely days in ICU. I actually got a good article out of it, though, as the first night I was in ICU I spent the evening raving like a madman, and experiencing some great fantasies/hallucinations - including being a bomber pilot in World War II, and being exiled to one of those infamous Russian psychiatric wards, where the Soviet Union would send its political dissidents. I’ll post that article day.

Accordingly, I did an interview a couple of years ago with two mothers and daughters, on the subject of Juvenile Diabetes. It runs on Fayetteville’s Community Access Television next week.

Days and times: Monday - 7pm

Tuesday - noon

Saturday - 6pm

It’s one of my better shows, I think, and there is a lot of god information provided.

What’s that you say? Your city council is too chicken to provide public access television for its own citizens? Keep bugging them. Or elect somebody with some vision.
