Arkansas Music Pavilion bowing to economic reality?

Arkansas Music Pavilion to become nonprofit?

Some might say that they have been sort of a “nonprofit” all along, only now they are actually  making it official.

I always enjoyed - in a perverse, blood pressure raising kind of way - the nights when Channel 5 (a sponsor of events of the AMP) would have reporters on site, acting like what was going on was somehow “news.” But then, the word “news” at Channel 5 doesn’t quite have the same meaning as it might for the rest of us.

American Family Association engages in a little deceit themselves?

I’m on the email list for the AFA (how else are you gonna know what the other side is up to?) and get all these neat little bulletins. I got this yesterday, offering a DVD exposing the evil takeover of Eureka Springs. From their bulletin:

New DVD shows how homosexual activists took control of the city government in a small Christian resort community And how they plan to do the same in other small towns

AFA has just released a new DVD, "They're Coming To Your Town." The DVD shows how a small group of homosexual activists took over the city council in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and began imposing their homosexual agenda on that community. For 40 years Eureka Springs has been known as a resort town for Christians. Their Passion Play has been attended by hundreds of thousands of Christians. But the activists are now in the process of turning Eureka Springs into a
haven for homosexuals.

I’ve been going to Eureka Springs for thirty years, and I suspect I know the town better than the scare mongers behind this DVD. Most of you probably know Eureka better than these yahoos, no doubt.

What a load of nonsense! Eureka has always struck me as a great “Live and Let Live” community. I guess the makers of this “documentary” didn’t actually talk to too many people who don’t agree with their particular, bigoted world-view.

In fact, Eureka was able to accomplish something that Fayetteville should have been able to do long ago. But Fayetteville couldn’t even get the Human Dignity Resolution passed without the fear mongers having their way.

Isn't every weekend in Eufreaka either Diversity Weekend or Biker Debauchery Weekend?

I remember back when the only division between residents was "hip" or "old timer," and there were quite a few gay and lesbian people in both groups. Some Christians too, but they weren't obnoxious about it.
